Guido Palau has had a busy month so far. Those pin-straight hair extensions last week at Cavalli? His. The Jazz Age Marcel wave at Prada last week? Also his. The soft knots at the nape of necks at Nina Ricci, where he made references to both the Edwardians and the 1970s? You get the idea.

The in-demand hairstylist and creative consultant for Redken is such a common sight backstage at fashion shows that he’s been responsible for single-handedly (not literally, of course) starting certain trends. In fact, he received some blogger criticism after introducing last spring’s side-braid craze. (He used the style both at Alexander Wang and at Miu Miu.) So far this season, he’s been all about the disco years — at Marc Jacobs (Jerry Hall), Marc by Marc Jacobs (Diana Ross) and Roberto Cavalli (’70s L.A. hippie). And in recent days, Palau has created purposely wet-looking hair at Bottega Veneta (working woman), Lanvin (scuba diver) and Pedro Lourenco (space princess).
