First Memorial Car Show to Honor Kelly, Ruggiero
This September marks a somber anniversary in the Villages of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.Â
On September 6, it will be one year after the fatal accident that took the lives of John Kelly and Anthony Ruggiero in a manhole behind Consolidated Engine Company.Â
While it will be easy to mark the day with reverence and remembrance, members of the Tarrytown Fire Department are determined to also enshrine the community-first principles shared by both men.Â
On September 10, Consolidated Engine Company is organizing the first-annual Anthony Ruggiero and John Kelly Memorial Car, Truck and Bike Show. Â
"We would just like to keep these guys' names alive and the way they lived – their lives were based on giving to the community," said Chuck Pateman, an active member of Consolidated since 1998.
The event will bring classic cars, trucks and motorcycles to the Green Street commuter parking lot on the Hudson side of the Metro North tracks. There will be plenty of food, vendors, raffles and likely some activities for children as well.Â
