Steamboat Springs – Uber-charismatic jazz pianist Michael Kaeshammer (pronounced “case-hammer”) is famous for mesmerizing his live audiences: “For me the performance is as much about the energy coming off the stage as the energy coming from the audience,” he says. “It’s about being true to myself, living in the moment, playing from the heart and hopefully showing my love for life. That’s what I’m all about….It’s even more exhilarating than it looks.” 

Kaeshammer grew up in Germany studying classical piano. But by the age 13, he’d already fallen in love with the styles of Albert Ammons, Meade Lux Lewis, Pete Johnson, Pinetop Smith and Fats Waller. He developed a penchant for stride and boogie woogie, and exposure to artists like Professor Longhair and James Booker further drew him into his “open-minded, open-eared approach to music.”

Hair styling and products are big business when it comes to men, we pay a huge amount of time to our hair and styling, so Ape to Gentleman we would get an experts take on the industry and none more expert than Peter Lux; here’s what he had to say.

EA: Would you say that a good Shampoo was the core of any man’s hairstyling regime?

PL: A good shampoo should be the basis of hairstyling; start with your hair clean. In painting it’s best to start with a clean canvas, with hairstyling start with hair clean and flake free. Using an effective shampoo is a core part of this.

This is not the first time (see previous post) I show the Christmas illuminations on the Champs Elysées, but this year they are new, a new design, obviously less power consuming.
The “fiat lux” took place last Wednesday and our beloved Amélie Poulain, alias Audrey Tautou, pushed the button. Unfortunately I was not present, had another nice appointment, so this picture is from a local newspaper.

One thing is absolutely clear from what has happened over the last week in the health care debate: fundamental change has not come to Washington, D.C. There's an old folk song made popular by Peter, Paul, and Mary called "When Will They Ever Learn?" Right now, that feels like the operative question for today's Democratic Party.
