Springfield's new driver
Around this time last year, Shon O’Donnell was preparing to compete in the Men’s Member-Guest Tournament hosted by the Springfield Country Club.
Almost a year later, O’Donnell has an entirely different view on what goes into making a quality golf experience.
Since taking over as general manager of the Springfield Country Club on March 7, O’Donnell quickly was brought up to speed on the everyday occurrences that come with operating and maintaining a golf course, while continuing the club’s efforts to boost membership.
“That’s really our focus I would say, to get new members out here,” O’Donnell said. “And you get people to realize two things: what a tremendous value Springfield Country Club is, and also what a beautiful golf course it is, too.”
While O’Donnell doesn’t come from a long golf background, his managerial skills and his event-planning credentials are certainly up to par.
