Hair She Comes

To say Jane Carter knows a thing or two about hair would be putting it mildly. The creator of the eponymous haircare line, Carter formulated the products more than a decade ago to treat her tresses after developing an allergic reaction to the chemicals in the hair products she used. The Jane Carter Solution line came about as the enterprising hairstylist began to experiment with a host of botanical oils, sea botanicals and natural proteins. She discovered that these natural ingredients were light and effective on all hair types and textures and went about making them.

Carter, who's due on The Rock for the fashion extravaganza that is Jamaica OBSERVER CELEBRATES FASHION'S NIGHT OUT on September 8, is favourably regarded as an expert in taming frizz, soothing scalps, twisting, wrapping and locking as well as colouring ethnic hair.

Gifted with glowing editorial reviews on the pages of mags such as Essence, Woman's World, Black Enterprise, Natural Health, and Health Magazine, the haircare expert's visit here has been made possible by one of her ardent disciples, Aisha Morgan — proprietor of the beauty store Nettle & Moss. SO, like the many who flooded our switchboard, is eagerly awaiting her visit to access first-hand tips on how to get the best from our hair.

Biracial Child Hair Care

Biracial Child Hair Care

Hi Camille,

I have a few questions about dealing with black hair. I know I'm posting this in the wrong section, but I couldn't find a link for asking hair questions.

I am white and my own hair type is very thick, wavy/curly, and somewhat frizzy. I've always had my own problems with hair and I didn't even think about my future kids potential hair problems when I married my husband, who is black. I have no experience in styling or caring for black hair. Between me and my honey though, our kids didn't have a chance at getting easy to deal with hair. My daughter is 1 and I am totally at a loss as to how to care for her hair. It grows so fast and she's at that age that I really need to do...

Are there any GOOD stylist in Chicago's South Suburbs that specialize in African American hair care?

I am getting married next year, and I am trying to get a head start on finding the perfect stylist for my special day. Primarily I do my own hair, so I have taken to the web to research and find stylist or salons to utilize for my wedding.

I need someone who would specialize in African American Hair Care and that would be located in chicago's south suburban area (Preferably Orland Park, Homer Glen, Tinley Park etc.)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

There is this site I started:
http://ratemyhairstylist.webs.com/
where you can post and find reviews on stylists in your area. It's pretty new and doesn't have that particular area just yet, but you can start one there! I can post something in Craigslist for your area to try and get someone to post!

I am 6 months pregnant and find my hair is growing very rapidly, I am trying to reframe from perms for the remainder of my pregnancy. However, I still want to maintain my hairs beauty. My new growth is wavy and my hair is really thick. If I apply alot of heat to my hair (i.e. blowdry and use marcel barrel curlers) it will look relaxed. But of course thats not good. I have tried Pantene Pro-V for women of color and that seems to be too heavy. Can anyone suggest a great way to maintain...
