I caught up with owner, Virginia Gioia, to sniff out the details, but our conversation turned to an even more interesting topic which I hadn’t yet thought to ask about: the importance of clear and precise communication between client and groomer.

I think we’ve all experienced the disappointment of a haircut gone terribly wrong. If it’s a challenge to communicate our vision to our own hairdresser, it’s that much more of a challenge to communicate our wishes to our dog’s stylist. I think we sometimes make assumptions about what a groomer should know, not realizing that what might be standard procedure at one shop might be a special request at another. My medium-length cut might be someone else’s short. One groomer’s idea of a tidy cut (very useful for male dogs, if you know what I mean) might look very different from another’s. I once worked at a shop where one irate client’s image of a field cut differed significantly from the groomer’s, although the result looked just like the image she showed me in a grooming book.

I have brown hair and have been looking for some good medium length haircuts(just a bit past the eyes preferred) that isn't swept to the side in an emo/scene way.
