Thomas' Two Runs Help Captains Split Doubleheader With 4-3 Victory in Game Two
The Captains gave up a one-run lead in the seventh inning of game one but held on to a one-run lead to win game two and split a doubleheader with Amarillo Saturday night at Fair Grounds Field. Sox catcher Josh Banda hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning of game one to lift Amarillo to a 8-6 win. Jameson Maj shut down the Sox in the seventh to get the save and preserve Shreveport-Bossier's 4-3 game two victory.In the second game, catcher Scott Thomas went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Reliever Lee Henry (W, 4-0) threw four innings of relief, allowing just one run on one hit.
Amarillo scored first in game two. Captains starter Mark Haynes walked the bases loaded in the second inning and walked Jeremy Sauceda to put the Sox up 1-0. Alex Chavez hit into a 4-6-3 double play, scoring Matthew Tucker with the second run of the frame.
Shreveport-Bossier would tie it in the third. Thomas led off the inning with a single off Amarillo starter Travis Lawler




Victor Cruz kicked off the scoring with a 74-yard home run in the first quarter. Ahmad Bradshaw, who finished with 69 all-purpose yards, rushed for a touchdown and caught another one in the second quarter. There were some shaky moments in the third
